In honor of Labor Day, one of our favorite holidays, we’ve decided to feature some of our red, white, and blue emergency vehicle strobe light builds for this month’s blog. These builds include some of our most popular emergency vehicle strobe lights and some custom-order products.

Many of our builds feature a combination of factory lighting as well as purpose-built emergency lights to create a more effective display, so we urge you to consider more than just factory strobe lighting on your build. We have many options available to supplement the factory lighting.

For this first responder build, we used a combination of Wicked Warnings emergency vehicle strobe lights. We feature our Thin-X Strip LED strobe light in the blue/clear 28-inch version in the front of this truck. We set this light on a slower and stable alternating flash pattern to provide warning light for a longer distance. The Thin-X Strip light includes the flood mode feature out of the box. The flood mode works with or without the rest of the strobe lights activated. You can see our LIN-6 LED strobe light in an all-blue color in the “nostrils” of the truck’s hood. We also mounted blue TIR-3 strobe lights within the fog light bezels.

We have 3 connection methods used in our Wicked Auto Flasher kits. The way that we manipulate the factory lighting is through the wires. We DO NOT reprogram any of the computers, nor do we modify the BCM or OBD2 devices. Everything we do is easily reversible, and any number of individual kits can be combined onto a single switch if desired. There is no single kit to flash all factory lights, as we must retain circuit individuality AND redundancy in the system. This means unlike other systems, there is not 1 single flasher that can fail and leave you with nothing working. The following three methods are used to interface with the factory wires.

Wicked Warnings has been around since 2005 with stellar references and we have been using our WAF (Wicked Auto Flasher) module with zero reported vehicle failures since we designed it in 2006. There is no known risk to using any factory lighting as flashers that we are aware of. Of course, all your factory lights will always revert to factory function when the strobes are not being used. We have never had a warranty claim or dealer issue related to our Auto Flasher Module.

This video features an emergency vehicle strobe lights build for a Ford F-150 and Ford F-450. Both of these trucks feature similar LED strobes.
