The flash duration is the time period (in milliseconds) in which the light is on. The duration is limited by technology (the LED need some time to start emitting light) and the flash frequency (because at 2 FPS, the flash duration must be < 500 ms).

The difference is the size and the reach of the light beam: the PowerStrobe could be used from a far distance, as it had a narrow beam of light. Our PocketStrobe LED on the other hand, gives a wider, diverging light beam and because of that reaches less far – approximately 1 m | 3 ft.

In terms of flash rate and light intensity the Pocket Strobe LED is second to none among the portable LED strobes world-wide. Cutting edge LEDs, intelligent electronics and a high quality optical assembly assure a bright and homogeneous illumination of fast moving objects.

With the PocketStrobe LED you can set both the frequency and the duration. The shorter the flash duration, the less distance is traveled by the viewed object and the sharper the image will get. However, the longer the flash duration, the more the object is illuminated.

Suppose, you want to have 2 light flashes per second. Then the frequency is 2 Hz or FPS (Flasher Per Second). In that case a total cycle (light off – light on – light off) lasts 500 ms, because 2 cycles make a 1000 ms (1 second).

The shorter the flash duration, the less distance is traveled by the viewed object and the sharper the image will get. However, the longer the flash duration, the more the object is illuminated. The choice is up to you!

Approximately 5 hours at 6000 Flashes Per Minute (dependent on the settings). You can use standard disposable alkaline, AA-size batteries.
