Allied Vision Technologies has introduced the first six models of its Mako camera family. The Mako is an ultra-compact digital camera for machine vision applications.

Reflected lightmetervs incident

Handheld exposure meters make use of the incident light metering method, i.e. they measure the light which strikes the subject and calculate a more precise exposure independent of the subject’s color and reflectivity. This is especially advantageous for primarily bright or dark subjects. In the case of exposure meters with flat diffusers, the otherwise spherical acceptance angle (180°) can be adjusted to a more directional measurement.

The cameras are available with CCD (Sony) and CMOS (Cmosis) imagers, which include the CMV2000 and CMV4000 sensors from Cmosis. NIR versions of these sensors are also available for applications that require optimised near-infrared sensitivity.

The camera has dimensions of 29 x 29mm. Its metal housing is designed for high durability in industrial conditions. The models are fitted with a GigE Vision interface with a screw-lock connector and power over Ethernet. They can be powered with the 24V voltage commonly used in automation machines. With four opto-coupled I/O connections (one in, three out), they can be integrated and synchronised with other system components.
