Just removed my glasses and looked at a source of light and then put my glasses back on and I can testify that yes this is indeed accurate

As you must've realised by now, astigmatism is a 'refractive error' that causes blurred vision. The culprit is an irregularly shaped cornea (the transparent front part of the eye) or a curved lens inside the eye. While a normal eye has both a rounded cornea and lens, those with astigmatism have an egg-shaped cornea and/or lens.

You may be born with it and not know the difference. Some even develop the condition after an eye injury or surgery. But if you ever find yourself in the doctor's office, a simple eye test can help diagnose it. Glasses, contacts or LASIK surgery can help correct this irregularity.

A rounded cornea and lens help focus light rays sharply onto the retina. But an irregularly shaped cornea means 'light rays aren't refracted (bent) properly,' explains Aao.org. This results in blurry or distorted vision which can lead to itchy eyes, even headaches.

I have very slight astigmatism so this doesn't happen all the time to me... I just thought some lights made lines and others didn't 😂

Holy shit I thought everyone saw the lines, when I was litttle I would squint to make em longer to entertain myself, thought that was normal

The Internet is not all dance videos, bizarre challenges and weird conspiracies. Once in a while, it manages to hit us with an absolute truth and leave us stumped. That's what happened when a page called 'Unusual Facts' on Twitter shared the following post highlighting the difference in how a person with astigmatism sees light compared to someone without the condition.

Put simply, 'it's almost like looking into a fun house mirror in which you can appear too tall, too short, too wide or too thin,' the article goes on to explain.

Astigmatism is when the cornea is slightly curved rather than completely round..With astigmatism, light focuses on several points of the retina rather just one point. This is what people with Astigmatisms vs without. pic.twitter.com/RXWWayFBRJ
