The VFX department at Illumination Studios Paris not only produces effects (water, smoke, explosions, snow, clouds…), it also produces natural set elements such as trees, grass, vegetation in general, and tools for crowd simulation.
Better to expose your 3rd Eye than your two real eyes. The Wolfcom 3rd Eye can also be used by an officer to peek around corners or into a dark room or attic giving him a safe tactical advantage without exposing his body to harm. An officer can also use the 3rd Eye to record video or snap a photo for later analysis of the situation. Video or photo images from the 3rd Eye's perspective will provide officers with precious intelligence such as how many suspects, hostages, weapons, and types of weapons, including the layout of the room or area. Our low light capability and infrared technology allow the officer to see who and what is waiting for him in the dark. How many times have you had to search an attic or crawl space for a suspect? An Officer can use the 3rd Eye to safely look over walls, into dark attics and crawl spaces without exposing himself to harm.
allows the officer to connect the unit directly to a TV or Monitor via an HDMI cable to instantly playback audio, video, and picture files. The officer can use the WOLFCOM 3rd Eye as a remote controller to pause, rewind, and fast forward the video or image files. During video playback, the officer can pause a video and perform a screen capture saving the image to memory. Because the WOLFCOM 3rd Eye records in High Definition of 1080P, the crystal clear video will put you right in the shoes of the Officer.
The Wolfcom 3rd Eye can also be used as an in-car camera video recorder. During Video recording, GPS coordinates are stamped onto every video file. When reviewing videos on our software, you'll be able to see the route of the video simultaneously on a map next to it and as the video moves, so does the dot on the map. This is valuable when reviewing video of a foot or car chase as you'll be able to see the exact route taken as footage of the chase unfolds before you. Unlike other police in-car video cameras, the Wolfcom 3rd Eye features a rotating camera mount that allows the officer to reach up and turn the camera completely around to film the back seat. This feature is important when video documentation of a suspect in custody in the back seat is necessary. With our low light night vision technology, the Wolfcom 3rd eye will capture everything day or night.
With GPS Time Sync, the date and time are always accurate. Although the officer can manually adjust the date and time himself, with our built-in GPS Sensor, the officer never has to worry about it. The Wolfcom 3rd Eye's internal clock will automatically be updated using received GPS information from satellites in orbit. This is the same GPS sensor that will stamp the Wolfcom 3rd Eye's GPS coordinate onto every video and picture file. With GPS GeoTag, the location where the video or photo was taken cannot be disputed.
Now law enforcement agencies that purchase the Wolfcom 3rd Eye will have the ability to enter an officer's badge number onto the unit. The badge number will be displayed in 2 locations. On the bottom of the display screen and also on every video and photo file. All video and photos taken with the Wolfcom 3rd Eye will have the Date, Time, Badge Number, and GPS coordinates stamped onto it. It will accept up to 8 Alpha-Numeric characters.
Because the Wolfcom 3rd Eye can be integrated into a two-way radio replacing an officer's lapel mic, some police officers prefer to wear their lapel mics across their back over the shoulders with the lapel mic hanging upside down. This will usually result in upside down video. However, with the new 1.5 version, the Wolfcom 3rd Eye can now be configured to record video right side up when the unit is hanging upside down.
Our low-light capability and infrared technology allow the officer to see who and what is waiting for him in the dark. Watch the sample video below.
Relying on the script breakdown, storyboarders produce a series of drawings describing, shot by shot, the action of the film. It is the first version of the movie once edited, the animatic.
The Technical Layout (TLO) department receives the approved shots from the Layout department. The artists check the conformity of all the elements (characters, sets and props) that appear in the shots to obtain consistent and complete scenes. The TLO also produces the layering in order to cut the shots in different layers of animation for the Crowd Animation department.
Character Modeling receives the designs from the Art Dep and makes the meshes and shapes of the characters. These meshes will then be sent to Rigging for acting and to Surfacing for texturing.
The Visual Effects department is cross-functional, contributing to the production throughout the process, from effects’ previzualisation to some rendering for compositing.
Instantly Playback Audio, Video or Photos on An HD TV. In the event of a terrorist attack such as the Boston Bombing, an Officer may have precious video recorded on the 3rd Eye that must be view and assessed quickly. He may be instructed to take the 3rd Eye directly to the nearest FBI station or Mobile Command Center so that the video can be quickly assessed. This means that the unit must be able to plug into a car computer or TV monitor so that the video can be carefully and quickly assessed and a decision made. The WOLFCOM 3rd Eye
The lighter also supervises the rendering which is calculated on different layers, in order to ensure that the Compositing department, with who he works in pair, can work efficiently.
The main role of the Research & Development department is to propose new technologies in order to enhance the level of quality of our films, or the efficiency and the convenience of the production.
No Overages: Our system will alert you when your storage is at 85% capacity. That way you can adjust your Retention Policies to custom fit your agency. It's like having your own private server in the cloud. You "Set & Control" your usage and your cost. Your bill will never be more than what you expect it to be. Pool your storage capacity together: All of your officers can pool together their storage capacity. For example, if you purchase our Pro Package (600 GB per officer) for 10 officers, your officers can pool their allotted storage together and share 6000 GB (6TB) of storage. This method is extremely beneficial if an officer takes sick leave. His/her cloud storage allotment will never go to waste! Add storage as your needs grow: You can add additional storage as your needs grow. Need to add another Terabyte of storage? No Problem. Each additional Terabyte of storage is just $720 a year. Best of all, your officers will be able to share and pool all of your storage capacity together!
A user can now tag and lock important files for easy access and security. For example, a police officer may have hundreds of photos, videos, and audio files recorded and stored on his unit but have no way of tagging or marking what's important to him. What usually would happen is an accidental erasure of important evidence. An officer can now tag and lock important files for easy access later and to prevent accidental deletion of that file.
In character-heavy shots, the animation of crowds and extras is handled by the Animation Crowd. These animation layers follow the same process as a Main Animation layer: VFX, CFX and Occ.
With the Wolfcom 3rd Eye, an officer can instantly snap photos of crucial evidence from crime scenes, evidence gathering victim injuries, vandalism, property damage, car accidents, burglaries, drugs, weapons, etc. Every photo will have GPS coordinates stamped onto every image file along with date and time. Crime scenes photos or videos taken with an officer's personal mobile phone may be confiscated and used as evidence. Personal photos of the officer may be used to discredit as well as embarrass the officer and/or department.
It can also be produced on a modeled surface to then be projected. It will create parallax in shots that include camera movement.
A bomb has gone off during an event. An officer thinks he might have a video of the suspect on his WOLFCOM 3rd Eye. He reviews eight minutes worth of video footage until he finds his man. Time is of the essence! This image of the suspect needs to be quickly distributed to other agencies! How can he save this image without going through another eight minutes of Video? With the WOLFCOM 3rd Eye the officer can simply press the Snap Shot button to capture the image on the screen and save it as a photo. The photo can then be quickly accessed without going through the video footage again. The photo can also be quickly downloaded onto a PC and emailed, printed, or faxed.
Working alongside the Hair department and in close collaboration with the Art Director and the Lighting department, the Character Surfacing artists will create the textures, the shaders and an appearance that will adapt to 3D rendering, while keeping the conformity with the initial design.
The Wolfcom 3rd Eye allows the officer to discreetly snap photos during Video Recording. In the event that an officer is speaking to someone and wants to take a picture without that person knowing, all he needs to do is simply reach up and press the snapshot button. The Wolfcom 3rd Eye will silently take a photo of that person and save it to memory. This is extremely useful in the event that a person becomes a suspect, the officer can quickly pull up that
Implicated in the creative process from pre-production, the Character Surfacing also provides a technical and artistic oversight throughout the production process.
The Lighting Department works closely with the R&D Department for the development of the rendering software, by adjusting it to the newest technologies and to the specific needs of the film, sequence or shot.
Part of the development of the project along with script writing, concept art lays the foundations of our animation design by producing an idea that aims to capture the visual feel of the project, and serves as a point of reference throughout the entire creative process.
Arriving at the scene of an accident or crime the WOLFCOM 3rd Eye enables the officer to quickly take pictures. With built-in 32 GB memory, the Wolfcom 3rd Eye can store thousands of high-quality images, instantly. The Visual Effects department is cross-functional, contributing to the production throughout the process, from effects’ previzualisation to some rendering for compositing.
The Occ 1 is a first technical pass. It is a strange looking animation video that allows you to see if everything is where it should be. From there, the same shot goes through four different departments.
The 3rd Eye records and plays back in 16:9 aspect ratio giving you the same sensation as sitting in a movie theater. The video fills the entire screen and not just part of it. This is perhaps one of the most overlooked important features. Combined with our 120-degree wide angle lens and 60 FPS you'll be able to capture everything!
The Wolfcom 3rd Eye's 8x digital zoom feature works when taking video or photos. In some cases, an officer may need to zoom in on an object but is limited by a wall, window, fence, or height. He can now easily zoom in up to 8 times. An officer can also snap photos at the same time he is recording video without interrupting the video. The video will still record flawlessly.
An illustrator-graphic designer is also part of the team. His role is to design visuals for posters, product packaging, shop signs, user interface designs (control rooms, dashboards, etc…) that appear in the sets of animated feature films currently in production.

With the Wolfcom 3rd Eye's Recycle Record Feature, precious evidence is saved in increments or fragments every few minutes just in case the unit is damaged from being shot, smashed, or dropped in water. Can be configured to save a file every 1, 5, 10 or 25-minute increments.
The Sets & Props Modeling creates the meshes of the sets and props based on the designs and Maya scenes provided by the Art Department. Those meshes are then givent to the Rigging to be actorized and to the Surfacing to be textured.
The VFX department at Illumination Studios Paris not only produces effects (water, smoke, explosions, snow, clouds…), it also produces natural set elements such as trees, grass, vegetation in general, and tools for crowd simulation.
The Layout sets up the staging of the scenes (camera axes, rhythm of the main action, sequence of shots…). They work on scenes containing several consecutive shots called Masters. Their movies are regularly sent to the Editorial Department to be integrated into the editing process. The validated Masters then go to the Technical Layout to be prepared for the Animation.
The IT team is responsible for ensuring the development of the information system (workstations, infrastructure servers, storage servers, network equipment, render farm…) and the availability of hardware and software assets for all employees.
Finally the Lighting team masters the technical aspects of the rendering software, as they control image quality and rendering duration.
The 3rd Eye was WOLFCOM’s very first body camera and debuted at the International Association of Chiefs of Police exhibition in Chicago, Illinois on October 13th, 2011. Vital parts needed to manufacture the 3rd Eye has become difficult to source in recent years as manufacturers begin to discontinue the IC components (sensors, chips, processors, etc.) necessary to build it. The 3rd Eye body camera system has been replaced with next-generation Commander body camera that offer more features and better quality and reliability than ever before.
The Set Dressing Department dress the sets of all shots with props, furniture and vegetation while refining the graphic and dynamic composition of the overall image.
The Character Rigging department receives meshes and shapes from Character Modeling. They actorize the character with a skeleton, deformers and controllers. They also integrate the CFX rig (clothes and hair). They produce an Actor-Ok for each character that will be used for the Layout and Animation.
“We're glad we found it [WOLFCOM 3RD EYE] because we would have settled for an inferior product. WOLFCOM’s cameras were half the price for twice the features."
This notice serves to officially inform all WOLFCOM Distributors and Resellers that after 8 years, the Wolfcom 3rd Eye has reached its (EOL) End of Life. The 3rd Eye will no longer be available for purchase and all remaining warranties will end on midnight December 31st, 2020.
Production is responsible for the smooth running of the manufacture of the movies. Production supervisors, manager and associate production managers (APM) work closely with the directors, producers and department supervisors. There tasks include the establishment and management of budgets, the monitoring of the teams’ schedules and of the production process.
Compositing includes grading, integration, optical effects (depth of field, flares, camera lens distortion, etc…), effects (NukeX particles), all that while emphasizing on the character animation and the visual narrative.
The Wolfcom 3rd Eye can also be connected to your 2-way radio replacing your current lapel speaker mic. This means no extra equipment to carry or worry about. The Wolfcom 3rd Eye does not use battery power from your radio and the speaker mic will still function even if the WOLFCOM 3rd Eye runs out of power or is turned off. With Covert Ear Piece Connectivity, you'll be able to discreetly monitor radio traffic without alarming the public or giving away your position during tense situations. The earpiece plugs right into the radio cable and screws securely in place.
the officer to take photos in the dark. The camera can also be set for 2-shot burst and 3-shot burst. With 8 x Digital Zoom, the officer can also zoom in to take close-up photos of an object.
Editorial is a department in the heart of the production process. It produces the references in terms of shots, timing, sound, etc… and receives shots from the other departments in order to include them in the film edit as the project progresses.
"We depend on our equipment a lot, the WOLFCOM 3RD EYE body cameras have been absolutely helpful in the field. We use them in everything we do.”
Stereo is involved in the Layout to set up the stereo camera settings. They define the IOC (inter-ocular), the HIT (horizontal image translation) and the Toe (convergence) to adjust the stereo. They intervene in Animation and finalize their settings in Compositing.
Compositors put together the layers coming from lighting and matte painting with the software Nuke, and give the final artistic look to the image, working closely with the director and the artistic director.
The Wolfcom 3rd Eye has a two user password protection system which means an administrator will have complete control over how the units are used and can set user permissions and access. Admin can also decide whether or not officers can playback, delete, download files, or change settings. With the 1.5 version, user settings can be made so that an officer can download files but not delete files. It also can be configured so that an officer can or cannot playback files. The admin can choose if an officer can change any settings themselves or if they need the admin's approval to change a setting. With the Wolfcom 3rd Eye, every option is configurable.
Animation Fixing makes a technical check of the animation plans. It is responsible for all “post-anim” elements for the following departments: CFX, VFX, lighting. He offers solutions to improve the management of problematic shots and to optimize the animation pipeline.
The Animation realizes the action of the characters. We distinguish between Animation Main, which deals with the main actors, and Animation Crowd, which deals with the crowds and extras. The animation movies are regularly sent to the Editorial Department to be integrated into the editing process. Once the shot is validated (and very often in the process of finalizing the shot), the VFX team takes the scene in hand to install the special effects. Next, Set Dressing finalizes the layout of the set elements to perfect the composition of the frame and CFX verifies the clothing and hairstyle simulations. The scene is then exported for a first verification rendering: the Occ.
The VFX department works from Setdress or CFX shots to deliver either to the OCC (pipeline) or compositing department for rendered elements.
Using our special attachment, just attach the unit onto the end of a baton or broomstick, activate Night Vision recording and let your 3rd Eye do the work for you.
Some States or Territories like Puerto Rico and Massachusetts have laws that prohibit an officer from recording audio but allow video to be recorded. With the Wolfcom 3rd Eye, an officer can deactivate audio recording so that only video is being recorded. He can mute the microphone with a push of a button even during video recording without interrupting the video or set it so that Audio Recording is off permanently. When activating the WOLFCOM 3rd Eye only Video will be recorded.
Here is a short description of our production pipeline, in order to show the diversity of departments for which we are hiring.

The 3rd Eye can record at a blazing 60 Frames Per Second capturing every single detail with crisp clarity. In the event of a pursuit, an officer-involved shooting, or false allegation, every frame must be scrutinized for important clues and details. When playing back video, an officer or investigator can advance the video frame by frame forward and backward. The more frames the better. Sometimes an officer's career can ride on just 1 frame.
The WOLFCOM 3rd Eye also has a voice recording option for recording sound when no video is needed. Perfect for recording victims or witnesses statements, especially when they are camera shy. During questioning, an officer can simply detach the unit from his body, switch the Wolfcom 3rd Eye to Voice Recorder Mode and hold the unit like a microphone in front of the person being questioned. The unit can store over 500 hours of audio recordings. We are the 1st company in the world to have a Voice Recorder built into a speaker Microphone.
The Wolfcom 3rd Eye can also be used to record statements in the interview room. The officer can set the unit down on a table and begin recording video, audio or both. If recording in video mode, the unit can record up to 17 hours of video. If recording audio only, the unit can record over 500 hours. The unit can also be plugged into a computer's USB port or wall charger for continuous power.
Our CJIS Compliant Cloud Storage is available for Law Enforcement & Government Agencies that need a simple and secure method to upload and store body camera video footage as well as other digital assets. Our servers are 100% secure and abide by the Criminal Justice Information Services requirements. Save time, resources, and space.
The Wolfcom 3rd Eye was the first police body camera with time, date, and GPS coordinates stamped onto the upper left-hand corner of every video and picture file. Not only can the officer prove what day and time the incident took place, but he can also prove his exact location as well. Each Wolfcom 3rd Eye unit also has its own unique ID that can be assigned to a specific officer. With our GPS GeoTag sensor built right into the unit, the location of the video or photo will always be recorded and saved to memory.
With the Wolfcom leather case, the unit can also be attached to our high-quality windshield mount to use as a vehicle dash camera. During a traffic stop, the officer can detach the camera from the windshield mount and quickly attach it onto his uniform to use as a body camera. After, the officer can detach the unit and mount it back onto the windshield. With our new quick-release system, you'll be able to quickly detach the unit to take photos of crime scenes, record audio statements, and peek around corners. And with our built-in detachable LCD cover, you'll be able to flip the back cover open to change modes or playback files.
At last, alongside the Compositing and Surfacing Departments, the Lighting Department ensures the rendered movie quality, by refining and correcting all the visual details of each shot.
Editorial steps in the moment the first images from storyboard are delivered and operates until the completion phase of the film. Therefore the editor works closely with the director throughout the production process.
The VFX department works from Setdress or CFX shots to deliver either to the OCC (pipeline) or compositing department for rendered elements.
The Hair Department works on the meshes of the Character Modeling to install the character hairstyles (cut, volume and shading). The shading will then be sent to Character Surfacing for integration into the Shading-Ok.
Set Surfacing receives the meshes from the Modeling Set with a first UV unfolding. They work on the shaders and textures. They produce a Shading-Ok for each character which will be used for the final rendering in Lighting.
Wolfcom 3rd Eye is able to record in 1080p resolution, 60 FPS, and up to 18 hours of video. This device features One Touch Recording for instant video recording activation. During video recording, an officer can also reach up and discreetly press a camera button that will silently snap a photo of the person or persons being questioned. Its 120-degree built-in wide-angle lens captures more than just the action. With a wide-angle field of view, combined with HD quality video, playback puts you right in the shoes of the user. With built-in GPS, every video will have time, date, and GPS Coordinates stamped onto each and every video file, frame by frame and picture by picture. Our video files use H.264 / AVC (Advanced Video Coding) compression, which is an industry standard. H.264 is a form of converting digital video into a format that takes up less capacity when it is stored or transmitted.
Record over 17 hours of video, 20,000 photos, or 500 hours of audio. The 3rd Eye has a whopping 32 GB of memory with the highest quality memory and the fastest read-write speed in the industry of 45 MBS. That means high-quality recording and playback every single time. It's temperature proof, waterproof, shockproof, and X-Ray proof.
All WOLFCOM Police Body Cameras and In-Car Video Systems have CCI Numbers and have been fully screened and integrate with CJIS Compliant Evidence Management Software.
The VFX department at Illumination Studios Paris not only produces effects (water, smoke, explosions, snow, clouds…), it also produces natural set elements such as trees, grass, vegetation in general, and tools for crowd simulation.
The first and second assistants are responsible for the importing of elements coming from the other departments. They also publish the editing of sequences and potential changes approved by the director and the editor so that all departments work with updated references.
The Visual Effects department is cross-functional, contributing to the production throughout the process, from effects’ previzualisation to some rendering for compositing.
