Applications for 2025 Observership Grants are now open. In addition to completing an application form you will need to provide the following:

It is responsibility of the individual awardee to apply for any visas they require and ensure they meet all the requirements to enter the country of the Centre they are visiting for the Observership.

Several Observerships are awarded each year, including three funded by ESE (COP and ROP) amounting to €1,000 each, and others that are self-funded by participants.

Grants are paid to applications after the Observership and on receipt of an expense claim form and supporting receipts or documentation. These need to be submitted to the ESE Office within 6 weeks of the Observership, or the application will be void. Payment to an institution can be made in advance of the meeting or event.  The Observership must be started within 18 months of the grant being awarded.

The EYES Clinical Observership Programme (COP) enables ESE Early Career Investigators from Europe to grow and learn during a short, one-month stay in an endocrine centres of special interest. These are referred to as an “Observership" due to different European laws.

Applications are verified to ensure this is not the case before a grant is awarded. ESE does not permit sanctioned individuals or individuals from sanctioned institutions to attend any ESE events.

All applications will be reviewed by the EYES Committee, a representative from the ESE Science Committee (for ROP) and a representative of the Clinical Committee (for COP).

In 2024 we opened the Clinical Observership Programme to applications from early career investigators from our Associate Partner Society: Sociedade Brasileira de Endocrinonologia e Metabologia (SBEM). If this pilot for a new 'bilateral' Clinical Observership (BOP) works well, we hope to extend it to our other Associate Partner Societies in due course. The same eligibility criteria apply. See centre number 24 in the drop-down menu below.

The awarded applicants will receive an official Certificate upon completion of the COP programme, signed by the EYES Committee Chair and the ESE Science Committee representative.
