Before the GHS, chemicals that had health hazards were determined using the NOHSC approved criteria for classifying hazardous substances and chemicals that had physical hazards were identified according to the Australian Dangerous Goods (ADG) Code. The ADG Code is the system for classifying goods that are dangerous for transport. The GHS essentially combines the two chemical classification systems and provides a corresponding labelling system for use in a workplace setting.

It stops situations getting to the point of violence. Most of the time people notice it [the Reveal body camera] without me having to say anything. Sometimes just by pointing at the display, they can see themselves and they realise they are being filmed [and] they just leave once they see the camera. It’s better than having a colleague next to you. Othello, Security Manager at the Hard Rock Café, Sweden

The front-facing screen is brilliant - you know you're being recorded when you can see yourself on a screen. The cameras are fantastic value for money. If you want the best, then you pay for the best, but there are other cameras out there where you pay a similar price but get half the product. Colin Green, Security Manager, UK
(Note: under the WHS Regulation SDSs are only mandatory for hazchems). Where an SDS is not available, always refer to the manufacturer or importer for further information.

Hazardous chemicals (hazchem) is the name given to the group of chemicals classified as hazardous for use at workplaces according to the GHS. The GHS classification system focuses on chemicals with acute and chronic hazards to health and safety in the workplace.
The benefits of Reveal's D-Series cameras, with their signature front-facing screen, are perhaps best illustrated by the people that use them. Over the years, we have had feedback from many customers who have each found their own unique benefits of the front-facing screen:
A front-facing screen is an LCD display on the front of the camera. It's situated on the same side as the camera lens and allows real-time recording or playback of the footage recorded. The screen is typically turned on by default and can be turned off for those situations requiring no illumination - a so-called ‘stealth mode'.
The front-facing screen on the body cameras is very useful. It reflects the attitude and captures the behaviour of the person being subjected to the different drug tests. With the front-facing screen, the person you're interacting with looks at the camera, and they change their attitude immediately. Traffic Police Officer, Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, Spain

The screen doesn’t need to be activated at all times. In some cases, it is turned off and left recording in ‘stealth mode. With the D-Series body camera, the stealth mode displays no image on the screen, and the red light that usually shows up when the screen is active remains unlit. The camera, in effect, appears off as it would for any other body camera left recording without a front-facing screen. Essentially this creates a swiss army knife of body cameras - a multi-purpose tool that can be used in various settings and scenarios.

Because many hazchems are also DGs and because most hazchems will need to be transported from one workplace to another workplace throughout their lifecycle, there are times when the two labelling systems interact, particularly for larger containers such as 200 L drums and IBCs. The WHS Regulation and Labelling of workplace hazardous chemicals code of practice 2011 (hazchems) have included the following exemptions and advice about how to handle these interactions:
Maintaining a safe workplace is everyone’s responsibility. This section offers information and tools to help you manage risks and protect health, safety and wellbeing.

DGs transported by sea are classified according to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) Code and DGs transported by air are classified according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) DG Regulations. The DG classification systems also have their own labelling (and marking) systems for use in a transport setting.
To find out whether a chemical has been classified as a hazchem and/or a DG, refer to the chemical's safety data sheet (SDS):

This time, with the camera, he was looking at himself on the front-facing screen for the whole incident, instead of looking at me, his focus was on the camera. I could see in his eyes that he was contemplating escaping and figuring out how to get away, but because he was being filmed he knew it wouldn’t make a difference.
