Masters also asked Bray what the difference was between policing in the United States versus Regina. Bray felt policing in Canada was more community-focused, with mandatory reporting on uses of force such as with Tasers. Bray said he felt policing in Regina was different in a positive way.

And so when you look at the significant cost of a body-worn camera system, I think we have to also look at what’s the need? And how many times are we finding ourselves in a situation where body-worn cameras would make a big difference?” said Bray.

Body cameras have been explored by other police departments in Canada. In Saskatoon, police have planned to test out body cameras towards the end of 2021, and are targeting full deployment in 2022.
