Academic regalia refers to the formal attire worn during the Graduation Ceremony to receive your award. The robe is called a gown, and the hat is referred to as a mortarboard. The hood and stoles distinguish your faculty and degree. Graduands are not permitted to customise or add any items to the approved regalia. For further details, please refer to the Graduation Ceremony Dress Code located in the “Graduation Day” tab.

Graduating in Absentia refers to the process in which, as a Higher Education (HE) student, your degree will be conferred during the academic board or Graduation Ceremony; but you will not be attending the ceremony in person.

Indigenous and First Nations stoles are offered to graduands as part of their formal regalia and are included in the hire fees through the ceremony registration portal.

Check and update your personal information during your final semester of studies in preparation for degree conferral and attendance at the graduation ceremony.

In order to receive your final documents, we need to ensure that you have gone through all the necessary approvals from our Examination Committee and Academic Board. Once your approval has been granted, your award will be conferred on Graduation Day, and your official documents will be made available for you to collect after the conclusion of the ceremony.

Students and guests with babies and small children should consider that graduation ceremonies are formal occasions with several speeches. Therefore, they may not always be suitable for young children. Please think about the length and timing of the ceremonies when deciding whether to bring children. Prams may not be allowed in the ceremony hall.

Therefore, we encourage graduands to discuss any special requests or requirements for the pronunciation of their names with the graduation team in the lead-up to the ceremony. If a graduand does not note any pronunciation requirements during the ceremony registration process, the name reader will read the first and last names as they understand them.

All invitation letters for visa purposes need to be prepared by the student. For more information on how to write an invitation letter, please refer to the Department of Home Affairs website.

This duration does not include your travel time or the time required for graduates and guests to be present before the commencement of the ceremony. Be sure to allocate sufficient time for travelling to the venue or parking to avoid rushing and to ensure you don’t arrive late for the ceremony.

In accordance with our terms and conditions, graduands who have graduated in absentia will not be eligible to attend a ceremony in the future for that same qualification, as their degrees will have already been conferred. The names of in absentia graduands are not read out during ceremonies.

Please note: for graduates receiving more than one award, you will receive both of these awards at the same ceremony. The team will assign you to attend the ceremony for the award considered to be the highest.

If you have any outstanding fees, debts, or fines, you must make payments in advance to become eligible for graduation, i.e. you will not be invited to the ceremony until the dues have been paid. Please note that any requests to be invited at the last minute will not be possible.

We will use the personal email ID registered on the Student Portal to communicate with you. Please also ensure that your personal details are correct at least three (3) months in advance before receiving the graduation invite.

Attending the ceremony is optional, and we encourage all graduates to participate as it marks a day of joy and recognition for your hard work and efforts.

The eligibility to graduate assessment and approval process involves the review by the Examination Committee (VET/Vocational and Higher Education students) and ratification by the Academic Board (Higher Education students only) prior to the Conferral of the award to ensure that the student has met all course requirements.

Your loved ones can see you graduate even if they are unable to attend the ceremony. We offer a live-streaming of graduation ceremonies, so there’s no need to miss anything, no matter where they are in the world.

When a student studies with us, they become part of our community for life, even after they graduate. So, we want to stay connected.

You will have the opportunity to capture the phonetic pronunciation of your name during the ceremony registration process. Every effort will be made by the name reader to ensure your request is adhered to; however, we cannot guarantee perfect enunciation and intonation.

Additionally, please check the personal email address you have registered in the Student Portal, as your invitation might have landed into your spam/junk folder.

You must respond before the registration deadline. If you miss the registration deadline, you will automatically graduate in absentia.

Upon the completion of your final subjects, our Examination Committee will finalise your results and assess the successful completion of your course. If you have met the requirements for successful completion, they will confirm your achievement. Your official documents will be mailed to you within 30 business days of the approval. Please be aware that your testamur/parchment cannot be issued in a digital format or sent via email. However, your completion letter and transcripts may be provided in a digital format. To make a request, please get in touch with Student Support.

In the scenarios mentioned above, your testamur and academic transcripts will be mailed to the postal address listed on your student portal within 30 business days after your allocated ceremony date. Please note, due to venue capacity limits we can only offer two (2) guest tickets per graduand. Graduands will be emailed closer to the event if additional guest tickets are available for purchase for your ceremony. No additional tickets will be sold on the day of the graduation.

You should have received an email with instructions on how to log in and access your photos directly from the photographer’s website. Please check your spam and/or junk folders to ensure you can find this email.

If you have opted to pre-purchase any physical products, such as testamur frames, they must be collected on the day of graduation. No items will be available for postage before or after the graduation ceremony.

You can also notify us via email so that arrangements can be made. We will then contact you in the lead-up to the ceremony to further discuss your requirements (if any).

If you have already received your graduation documents, you will be given a graduation folder on stage containing a congratulatory letter during the city-based ceremony. You are welcome to bring along your testamur for photo opportunities after the ceremony.

Only registered graduands are notified when additional tickets go on sale until allocation is exhausted so please keep an eye on your inbox. The cost is $55 per additional guest. Please note, no additional tickets will be sold on the day of the graduation.
